Grant of Dearness Relief to Central Freedom Fighter Pensioners w.e.f July 2024
The Ministry of Home Affairs has announced an enhancement in Dearness Relief (DR) for Central Freedom Fighter Pensioners, effective from July 1, 2024. The DR rate has been increased by 3%, raising it from 48% to 51% of the basic pension.

Revised Pension Amounts:
Ex-Andaman Political Prisoners/Spouses:
Basic Pension: ₹30,000
Revised Pension with 51% DR: ₹45,300
Freedom Fighters Who Suffered Outside British India/Spouses:
Basic Pension: ₹28,000
Revised Pension with 51% DR: ₹42,280
Other Freedom Fighters/Spouses, Including INA:
Basic Pension: ₹26,000
Revised Pension with 51% DR: ₹39,260
Dependent Parents/Eligible Daughters (up to 3 at any time):
Basic Pension: 50% of the freedom fighter's entitlement, i.e., ₹13,000 to ₹15,000
Revised Pension with 51% DR: ₹19,630 to ₹22,650
This adjustment aims to provide financial relief to pensioners under the Swatantrata Sainik Samman Yojana (SSSY). The Ministry has also clarified that, as per policy guidelines dated August 6, 2014, Tax Deducted at Source (TDS) is not applicable to the Central Samman Pension.
