20 LAKH PEOPLE HAVE JOINED THE MODIFIED PRADHAN MANTRI JAN DHAN YOJNA (PMJDY) SCHEME, TOTAL ACCOUNT HOLDERS 32.61 CRORE

PRADHAN MANTRI JAN DHAN YOJNA (PMJDY) As many as 20 lakh people have joined the modified Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojna ( PMJDY ), taking the total number of account holders in the flagship financial inclusion programme to 32.61 crore as on September 5, according to finance ministry data. The government earlier this month relaunched   PMJDY   as an open-ended scheme with higher insurance cover and double the overdraft (OD) facility. The Union Cabinet decided to continue the scheme beyond the four-year period ended August 14 with an aim to take the formal banking system from “ every household to every adult “. During the August 15-September 5 period, the total deposits in 32.61   PMJDY   accounts witnessed an increase of Rs 1,266.43 crore. UAN ACTIVATED MEMBERS CAN KNOW PF BALANCE THROUGH MISSED CALL AND SMS ALERT

Ministry of Labour & Employment UAN Activated Members Can Know PF Balance Through Missed Call AND SMS Alert 12 MAR 2018 Members registered on the UAN portal may get their details available with EPFO by giving a missed call at 011-22901406 from their registered mobile number. If the UAN of the member is seeded with any one of the Bank A/c number, AADHAAR and PAN, the member will get details of last contribution and PF balance. To avail this facility, mobile number must be activated with UAN at Unified Portal. Giving missed call from registered mobile number at 011-22901406 automatically gets disconnected after two rings. This service is available free of cost to the member. Moreover, these services can be availed from non-smart phones also. The information for availing missed call facility and SMS service for getting PF balance and last contribution is now available on UMANG app also. CBDT extends date till 31.3.18 for linking of Aadhaar with PAN Under the provisions of recently introduced section 139AA of the Income-tax Act, 1961 (the Act), with effect from 01.07.2017, all taxpayers having Aadhaar Number or Enrolment Number are required to link the same with Permanent Account Number (PAN). In view of the difficulties faced by some of the taxpayers in the process, the date for linking of Aadhaar with PAN was initially extended till 31st August, 2017 which was further extended upto 31st December, 2017. It has come to notice that some of the taxpayers have not yet completed the linking of PAN with Aadhaar. Therefore, to facilitate the process of linking, it has been decided to further extend the time for linking of Aadhaar with PAN till 31.03.2018. PIB

219th Meeting of Central Board of EPFO Held The 219th meeting of the Central Board of Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) held in New Delhi yesterday under the chairmanship of Union Minister of labour & Employment Shri Santosh Kumar Gangwar. Following where are the key decisions of the Board: a) The Board took note of the 10 requests from ineligible establishments for waiver of damages during the period May 20, 2017 to September 30, 2017 which were earlier rejected by EPFO. b) The Central Board started investing in Equity Exchange-Traded Funds (ETFs) from August 2015. The Accounting Policy for valuation and accounting of equity investments were prepared in consultancy with IIM Bangalore. The observations of the CAG were also incorporated in the accounting policy. Aadhaar Data is Never Leaked or Breached: UIDAI The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) responding to a news report, appeared in certain section of media on "210 Government sites made Aadhaar info public" as if Aadhaar data is leaked or breached, has said that such report is a skewed presentation of the facts and poses as if the Aadhaar data is breached or leaked which is not the true presentation. UIDAI said in a statement here that the Aadhaar data is fully safe and secure and there has been no data leak or breach at UIDAI. UIDAI said that this said data on these websites was placed in public domain as a measure of proactive disclosure under RTI Act by these government and institutional websites which included beneficiaries’ name, address, bank account, and other details including Aadhaar number and was collected from the third party/users for various welfare schemes.
